Jamie Foxx's daughter, Corinne Foxx, has been named Miss Golden Globe 2016 by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The model-actress – who is also a student at the University of Southern California – is no stranger to award shows, having accompanied her dad on red carpets since she was a kid.
"I've known for about 3 weeks. Maybe like a month and I was so excited," Foxx told PEOPLE. "I had all of this energy and I'm not lying, for an hour straight, just jumped around my house and was bouncing off the walls, and was Googling all of this stuff about Miss Golden Globes so I was really excited."
And her Golden Globe Award-winning dad's reaction was priceless. "My dad, he's a little bit emotional. He won't admit it, but he had tears in his eyes and he was so happy for me to kind of have my own thing now," she said.
The annual title is traditionally given to the daughter or son of a celebrity, and their responsibility is to assist in handing out the awards on the big night.
"Like her father, [Corinne] leads a fine example of following her dreams and we can't wait to see what she does next,” said Lorenzo Soria, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
"Throughout the years I've grown up watching my dad establish himself as a well-respected actor," Foxx said during a party hosted by the HFPA. "I'm honored that HFPA has given me the opportunity to now share the same stage where he's been recognized for some of his greatest accomplishments."
Past honorees include Greer Grammer, Dakota Johnson, Sosie Bacon and Rumer Willis. (People)
