Nicki Minaj sure seems like she has a special connection with all of her fans, but her relationship with a young cancer patient, Miyah Telemaque-Nelson, whom she met earlier this year, was particularly moving. Tuesday morning (December 9), Nicki mourned the loss of Miyah, who passed away on Monday at age 6.
“I can’t believe this little angel is gone,” the “Moment 4 Life” rapper wrote in an Instagram post, along with some pictures of the two of them. “When I met her she was recovering. Sending love to her mother and family and John. This is heartbreaking. She was so full of life. #RIPMiyah.”
The Young Money star first met Miyah in March, after NBA player John Wall connected with her and launched a campaign to help the fan meet her favorite artist.
Wall, too, celebrated and honored Miyah — with his on court performance on Monday night. The Washington Wizards guard — who had been writing her name on his shoes all season, and FaceTimed with her recently — had 26 points and a career high 17 assists in a 133-132 double overtime win over the Boston Celtics last night, where he scored his team’s final 10 points, including the game-winning basket. In a post-game interview, when asked about Miyah, the All-Star broke down.
