Troops Capture Terrorists Disguised As Women In Baga

The Defence Headquarters in Abuja has said that the ongoing cordon-and- search operation in the recaptured town of Baga has revealed some terrorists disguising as women just as the Nigerian Air Force continued to bombard parts of Gwoza, Bama and Sambisa forest.

A statement by the director of defence information, Major Chris Olukolade, yesterday, said more discoveries of arms especially bombs hidden in various locations in Baga, were being made, adding that apart from terrorists captured in the course of fighting, many arrests of terrorists hiding in the town are also being made, with troops busy interrogating the suspects.
The statement reads in part: “The air strikes have been highly successful as they achieved the aims, hitting vital targets with required precision. Terrorists are now in disarray as they scamper to escape from the impact of air bombardment of their locations in the forest.”

It noted that having successfully liberated Baga where the terrorists had been unleashing unspeakable terror, the troops’ attention had now been focused on consolidation of the security in the area to pave way for return of citizens.

President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday met with President Denis Sassou N’Guesso of the Republic of Congo and their Equatorial Guinea counterpart, Obiang Nguema Mbasogo in Abuja to consolidate the decision reached by the African Union (AU) on the ongoing war against Boko Haram.

After the meeting of the three African leaders at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, N’Guesso said what mattered most was putting a security architecture in place to coordinate all actions to eradicate the Boko Haram sect.

He said, “Like you know, at the last meeting of the Africa Union, the Heads of State took some very important decisions, principally to check the Haram attacks in Nigeria, Niger, Cameroun and Chad.

“Following the meeting of the African Union, the Economic Community of Central African countries had a meeting recently in Yaoundé to address particularly the Boko Haram challenge in Africa and to see the possibility of ameliorating the grave situation. It’s on that platform that we met with our friend, President Jonathan of Nigeria.”

The Congo president added that they were also in Nigeria because they had been mandated by the Heads of State of the Central African Community to show solidarity to the people and government of Nigeria, as well as President Jonathan.

“And after here, we are on a mission to Accra to meet with President John Mahama of Ghana, who is the Chairman of ECOWAS. We will study the situation together and put in place a security architecture to see how we can coordinate all our actions to put out and eradicate the Boko Haram, which has been spreading in a very grave manner,” he said.

“We have no doubt that we will collectively utilize all political, military and diplomatic actions and mobilize all our actions in all fronts to degrade and eradicate Boko Haram. We have no doubt that we have arrived at a mechanism for coordinating all our actions for effectiveness”.

They congratulated the government of Nigeria and the security forces for the recent success that they recorded in dealing with Boko Haram insurgents.

“We hope that the framework that we are going to put in place will give us a better and more effective result against Boko Haram,” N’Guesso noted. (Leadership)
