Train Crushes Motorcycle Rider In Lagos

Lagos metropolis was yesterday thrown into a state of confusion when an Ebute Metta-bound train coming from Ijoko in Ogun State crushed a motorcycle rider at Fagba rail level crossing in Iju Ishaga area of the state.

It was gathered that the deceased identified as Yakubu Samuel was riding a power bike marked BDG 601QC and was said to be coming from Abule Egba but met his death when he ignored the Nigeria Railway Corporation traffic control officer who stopped all vehicles to pave way for the train to pass.

Samuel, a shift leader of a security outfit and attached to CLAM Church in Omole area of Lagos witnesses said ran into the train and was killed on the spot.

An eye witness who gave his name as Mr. Bola Ojo, said rather than exercise patience the deceased tried to cross the rail line swiftly but could not and thereby paid with his life.

He said, “Instead of him to wait for the train to pass he was in a hurry. Now he has lost his life.”

His family members were contacted when sympathizers at the scene used his mobile phone to call one of his brothers who said he was working at Apapa and was informed that his brother had an accident and needed urgent assistance.

Policemen from Abattoir and Oko Oba divisions who arrived the scene after the accident to control the large crowd that had gathered later took his remains away.
