Official: Gladbach Complete Permanent Deal for Thorgan Hazard

The Belgian attacker has quickly established himself in the Bundesliga side's first team, scoring four times this season, and has agreed to leave Chelsea on a five-year deal. Borussia Monchengladbach have completed the signing of Thorgan Hazard from Chelsea on a permanent deal, with the Belgian starlet signing until 2020.

The attacker, brother of Blues star Eden, who recently signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge himself, has agreed a five-year deal with the Bundesliga side, where he is currently on loan, though the deal includes a buy-back clause.

"Thorgan has indicated in the past few months what a great talent he is. We are delighted that we have managed to sign him, and that he has decided to play in the next few years for Borussia," said sporting director Max Eberl.

Hazard has quickly established himself in Lucien Favre's first-team plans, notching four goals and eight assists for Gladbach in his 29 appearances for the club this season, and believes he has found the perfect place to develop.

"I signed here for four years plus one year optional, because I think Borussia is the right club for me to keep growing," he told the club's official site.

"It is too soon for me to play for Chelsea. Borussia is a club that suits me perfectly. Mönchengladbach is not far from Belgium and the club has great fans that always support us. It is a good team, a good coach and a good place for me to develop."

In January, Jose Mourinho revealed that he was still considering what to do with Hazard and whether he had a future at Chelsea - though the Portuguese rates him highly enough to ensure a buy-back clause was included in the deal.

"He’s one of the few players I travel to see play live and we like him very much," said Mourinho previously. "But there is here one player in front of him who is not bad, a guy called Hazard like him, but Eden.

"The best decision was for him to go to Borussia and also Bundesliga is a good championship for him to play in and we’ll see what happens. We have a lot [of players] so for him it is better for him to play there.

"Is he coming back or staying at Borussia? Do we want to buy or sell? Do we want money to make financial operations? This is something we have to take step by step. He is one of players we have on loan that has enough potential to play for Chelsea one day." (Goal)
