Jigawa CAN Denies Alleged Receipt Of N3m Bribe

Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Jigawa State chapter has denied the allegation of receiving N3 million given to all state chapters of the association across the nation to campaign against APC presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari in churches.



State chairman of the association Rev. Musa Yakubu was reacting to the allegation by Pastor Musa Kallamu Dikkwa that it was to support and campaign for President Goodluck Jonathan’s second term bid.

He said, the report in which Pastor Dikkwa alleged that President Jonathan through the president of CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor gave the association the sum of N7 billion distributed to the 36 states branch of the association, including the Federal Capital Territory, was very alarming.

“Since when I became a member of the national executive council of Christian Association of Nigeria I have never seen the president receiving or distributing money, to state chapters”.

He than, than charge religious leader in any belief, to maintain their status as spiritual leaders, remain neutral and also not allowed politicians to use them for achieving their selfish interest.

Rev Yakubu also revealed that, his association has been committed in sensetaizing its members to vote for creadible candidate of their choice and also to remain law abiding during and after the election.

“ I had a meating with pastors of the 27 local government areas in the state and I told them to preach for peace and harmony between our follower and followers of other religion”.

He also called on the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies to be neutral in discharging their duties during and after the election to ensure peace unity and progress of the nation.
