Chelsea Loanee Andreas Christensen to Spend One More Season at Borussia Monchengladbach

Chelsea youngster Andreas Christensen who has heavily impressed in Bundesliga this season will remain on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach for another season, according to the German club's sporting director Max Eberl.

Christensen signed for Chelsea from Brondby as a 15-year-old in 2012 and was sent on loan last summer , joining Gladbach on a two-year loan deal. The Danish centre-half has thrived having been handed a first-team role, emerging as one of the Bundesliga's best young talents this term.

His rise has fueled speculation suggesting Chelsea will seek to recall the player this summer, with captain John Terry expected to leave when his contract expires in July and Kurt Zouma sidelined with knee ligament injury.

Barcelona meanwhile have also emerged as an interested party, with Mundo Deportivo claiming scouts from the Catalan giants have been hugely impressed with the youngster.

But with Chelsea seemingly having no option to recall the player early, Gladbach are satisfied Christensen will remain their player for the 2016-17 season.

"Sure, he has developed great and a lot of clubs are interested in him, but he will definitely play for Gladbach next season," the club's sporting director Eberl said, Goal.com report.
