The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, has ascribed the defeat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the presidential and National Assembly elections to the handiwork of saboteurs in the party.
Moro further alleged that collation officers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) worked against the success of the party by wrongly cancelling the election results from Konshisha and Logo Local Government Area in Benue State, which he said adversely affected the fortunes of the party in the state.
Moro, however, tipped the party to win the governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state noting that steps had been taken to checkmate the activities of such saboteurs.
The minister who stated these on Wednesday in Otukpo, urged members of the party to put aside the setback of the last elections and turn out en masse to vote for the PDP
He said: “It is regrettable that what happened on March 28 was an accident that was aided and abetted by some PDP members. The malfunction of the card readers also affected the fortunes of the party but it is not an ideal yardstick to measure the strength of PDP.
“I therefore urged all PDP members and the masses in the state to be resolute and optimistic about the Tarzoor/Ngbede governorship ticket, which is obviously going to tackle the challenges of unpaid salaries and pension when voted to power.”
He described those who were dumping the PDP for APC after the last elections as “fortune seekers who at the sight of victory have started scampering to join the opposition.” (Leadership)
