$14.9bn Report: Transparency Network Seek Probe Of Reps Committee

A non-profit organisation, Transparency Network has called on the Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal to investigate the Chairman of the House Public Accounts Committee, Hon. Adeola Solomon Olamilekan over reports of the latter’s “politically-sponsored blackmail” on the petroleum ministry, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and its subsidiaries.

A statement issued on Tuesday by the Executive Director of the Abuja-based non-profit organisation, Dr. Yahaya Bello also accused the House committee chairman of “economic sabotage” as a result of his series of “unsubstantiated” corruption allegations on the petroleum ministry.

Olamilekan (Lagos/APC) alleged at the weekend that $14.9 billion (about N3 trillion) reportedly paid by the Nigerian Liquified Natural Gas (NLNG) Company from 2004 to 2014 to the NNPC has disappeared. Recall that Olamilekan pushed for the probe of the petroleum minister, Mrs. Diezani Allison- Madueke for allegedly spending a staggering N10 billion to hire private jets until a court injunction halted the probe.
