Deltans Came Out Enmasse to Welcome President Jonathan

The campaign train of President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, brought socio-economic activities to a standstill in Asaba, Delta State capital. The campaign train, which arrived the Cenotaph, venue of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential rally at 3:45 p.m., caused severe traffic gridlock for several hours.

President Jonathan arrived the venue amidst cheers from Deltans who had waited patiently to catch a glimpse of his campaign team. Addressing the people, Dr Jonathan said that the Delta Gas City project was the biggest in Africa and would create jobs for Nigerian youths.

He said that the first Maritime University in the country, where Nigerians would be trained on Marine Engineering to equip them for the repairs of ships, was being established in the state.

Noting that the PDP was the only party that has good plans for the youths, Jonathan said Nigerians do not need the broom as a clean state, urging Deltans to vote the PDP from the presidency to the state House of Assembly level.

According to him, the PDP government knows where the world is heading to and expressed his readiness to move Nigeria forward through the transformation agenda of his administration.

Dame Patience Jonathan, who addressed the women, said the APC was a condemned drug, while President Jonathan and Namadi Sambo were the answer.

Vice President Sambo, who also addressed the people, said the Sapele power station was 100 percent completed and would soon be commissioned. He said that the coastal railway line had been approved to connect the South-South and the South-East, adding that it would connect Lagos-Benin-Asaba-Onitsha to Yenagoa.

Noting that Nigeria does not need a president who cannot stand to address them for five minutes, Sambo said all leaders in the world were in their 40s and 50s. (Vanguard)
