And the objective is simple, to get Kola, son of late MKO Abiola to contest as the Governor of Ogun state.
The initiators of this plot are former Governor Olusegun Osoba and his backers.
The Ogun state political leader had defected from the All Progressives Congress to the Social Democratic- along with his teeming followers- over a protracted political battle with reelection seeking incumbent Governor, Ibikunle Amosun.
SDP is the political party on which Kola’s mega rich father and iconic international figure, Moshood Kashimawo Abiola chartered course of history and foundation for present day democracy by winning what was widely adjudged the fairest and freest presidential election–but was invalidated for self serving reasons by then Military ruler of 8years, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida.
Abiola died in government custody- allegedly poisoned and his wife gunned down - trying to reclaim his mandate and the ripple effect of his death saw town man- and former military head of state -, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo emerged president in the kick off of president day democracy.
Kola widely believed to be his father’s close confidante and inheritor of his vast contacts and business deals had turned a recluse – but empathy over the national sacrifice made by his family, particularly in his homestead remains.

The Abiola name has far stronger appeal and allure than Amosun’s in the all spheres of life in Ogun state. And the family comes from the perceived politically preferred place of origin of the next governor of the state.
Sources further revealed underground moves to adopt Kola as a consensus candidate by opposition parties, should he agree to run, in the Amosun Must Go Mega Allaince is currently on as well.
The SDP, PDP and Labour parties are said to have working relationship backed by Presidential approval – and funding.
In the face of inability to agree on consensus candidate at present, sources further claim the move to conscript Kola Abiola into the scheme of things is said to greatly excite the president.
