Gary Cahill Signed New Four-year Contract, Keeping Him at Stamford Bridge Until 2019

Chelsea Football Club announce Gary Cahill has signed a new four-year contract, keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2019. The 29-year-old has become a key figure in the team since arriving from Bolton Wanderers in early 2012, lifting every major club honour in that time.

Cahill said: ‘I’m really pleased to commit my future to Chelsea and it’s great the club has put their faith in me. ‘I have achieved a lot here and I hope I can keep on learning, helping the team and lifting trophies over the next four years.’

Cahill was part of the squad which won the Champions League and FA Cup during his first few months as a Chelsea player, adding the Europa League to his collection a year later.

Last season he lifted the Capital One Cup and Premier League trophies and was part of the division’s meanest defence for the second successive season. He was also voted into the Premier League PFA Team of the Year in both 2013/14 and 2014/15.

A regular for his country, the former Aston Villa trainee was named England vice-captain following the 2014 World Cup, helping his country qualify for next summer’s European Championships. He has 40 caps to his name for the Three Lions.

Cahill has so far made 177 Chelsea appearances, scoring 15 times.
