Residents Flee As Boko Haram Rattles Maiduguri

Thousands of Maiduguri residents are currently fleeing their homes after Boko Haram terrorists launched a late evening attack on the city yesterday. A top security officer who spoke to our reporter in Maiduguri ‎on phone said “Boko Haram terrorist are attacking at Kayamla village,” a farming community about 10km from Maiduguri and less than 6km away from Giwa Barracks, in Borno State. Residents who had retired to their homes ahead the regular 7pm curfew were forced flee their homes in fear. The attack came a year after Boko Haram terrorists attacked Giwa Barracks on May 12, 2014. Details of the attack were yet to be ascertained at the time of filing this report. Spokesman of the 7 Division, Nigeria Army, Col Tukur Gusau, in a text message ‎ to journalists’ inquiry, said, “Please be calm as we are right on top of the situation.”
