Mikel Arteta has signed a one-year contract extension with Arsenal, according to his agent. Arteta's representative Inaki Ibanez told footmercato.net: "Mikel is no longer free next June, because he now has an extra year on his contract."
It means Arteta will stay at the Emirates until the end of 2015-16, when he will be 34 years old.
The Spaniard joined the club from Everton in 2011, and last summer it had appeared that an exit was on the cards.
But he has elected to stay with the Gunners for another season, despite struggling with a calf problem which has restricted him to just seven Premier League appearances in the current campaign. Goal
