At least24 suspected thugs were yesterday arrested by the Police in Katsina following protests that led to the destruction of posters, billboards and campaign offices.

Few hours after President Jonathan visited the state for campaign, irate youths destroyed posters and bill boards belonging to the president and that of the PDP guber candidate in the state, Engr Musa Nashuni.

The president’s convoy was also pelted while on its way to visit the aged mother of the late President Musa Yaradua.

Addressing newsmen yesterday, the state Deputy Commissioner Police, Bala Zama Senchi said that dangerous weapons that included cutlasses and knives were recovered from those arrested.

Senchi who accused some politicians in the state of being behind the incidence assured that those arrested would be charged to court once investigations were concluded.

He assured the politicians behind the incidences that they shall be made to face the full wrath of the law as according to him, the police would not waver in its responsibility of safeguarding all.

Senchi appealed to parents not to allow their children to be used by persons bent on causing confusion, and warned that such parents, especially those whose children are aged 7-8, would also be arrested.
