Fear of being arrested by policemen has gripped the staff of a hotel in Lagos State where a man died in the swimming pool. Leadership reports

The man was said to have abandoned his friends at the table where they were unwinding, for the pool in a hotel (name withheld) at Owode, Ajegunle in Ikorodu area of the state.

The man who was alleged to have consumed some quantity of alcohol was said to have drowned in the pool on January 11, 2015.

His friends were said to have waited for some time before they began to search for him only to see his body floating in the water.

Some of the staff of the hotel were said to have abandoned their duty post to their residences to evade arrest.

A staff of the hotel told LEADERSHIP that the victim’s four friends that went to the hotel with him cried like babies when they saw their friend’s corpse.

The source disclosed that “the victim arrived the hotel hale and hearty, unknown to him he and his friends, he was celebrating his last hour on earth. The swimming pool has not been completed so I don’t know why he had to jump into it. They rushed him to a hospital where a doctor confirmed him dead. Their laughter had turned to sorrow. His four friends wept like babies and refused to be consoled. Many staff ran away for fear of being arrested by the police even as the staff did not cause his death. It is a bad beginning for this hotel because it is not up to one year the hotel began operation”
