Busta Rhymes Arrested and Charged With Assault after Throwing Protein Drink Container at Gym Worker

Busta Rhymes has been charged with assault after an alleged fight at a New York City gym, according to reports. CBS claims that the 43-year-old was arrested at the Steel Gym in the posh Chelsea area of the Big Apple at around 8.30pm on Wednesday. The rapper, real name Trevor Tahiem Smith Jr. allegedly threw a container of Lean Body Protein drink at a gym worker, New York Daily News reports. Police were called to the scene and Busta Rhymes was arrested, but the victim apparently refused medical attention. According to New York Daily News, the gym's employee was hit in the back of the head but did not sustain serious injuries.

The star was charged with assault in the second degree after his arrest and it is believed that he is still in jail.

DailyMail.com has contacted a representative for Busta Rhymes for comment.

The star's lawyer told TMZ that the allegations are 'a bunch of bull', adding: 'This is another attempt to take advantage of Busta's celebrity status.'

It's not the first time the Woo Ha!! Got You All in Check hit-maker has found himself in trouble with the law for alleged assault.

He was arrested and arraigned for charges of third-degree assault in August 2006 after he allegedly attacked a man for spitting on his car.

The following February, Busta Rhymes refused a plea deal for allegedly assaulting his former driver, which would have seen him spend six months behind bars.

Instead, he was sentenced in 2008 to three year's probation and 10 days of community service. He was also required to enroll in a drunken driving program and pay $1250 in fines.

One year later, Busta Rhymes was ordered by a judge to pay compensation to the tune of $75,000 to a concert goer for a 2003 assault.
