Making this known at a press briefing in Washington, DC, spokesperson of the State Department, Ms. Marie Harf, added that it was terrible to see that young girls are being used to conduct suicide attacks.
US spokesperson Said: “We obviously condemn these attacks in the strongest terms. Boko Haram is a huge threat, remains a huge threat. All you have to do is look at what’s happened over the last week to know that. And we are trying to get some more information about numbers and all of that”
Then she later made reference to the premature termination of the military training which she Said was designed to strengthen the Nigerian army’s capacity to counter Boko Haram
“We have a relationship with them, we are trying to help them improve their capacity, but obviously, that was not an ideal development that we saw late last year.
“We also think that, of course, even in the face of these horrifying attacks, that this must not, I would say, distract Nigeria from carrying out credible and peaceful elections, that – I know it’s difficult, we know it’s difficult, but they need to go forward with those.”(Leadership)
