Adamawa SDP Guber Candidate Dies

The gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Adamawa State, Rev Hakila Yerima is dead. The death of the guber candidate few weeks to the general elections has thrown party officials and followers into a sober mood.

Yerima became the candidate of the party after winning the gubernatorial primaries of the party which held on the 6th of December, 2014.

Confirming the development in Yola, the state secretary of the party, Dr John Luka said the party’s candidate took ill and has been in hospital for some time before his final departure.

Dr Luka said, “Our party’s flag bearer, Hakila Yerima was hospitalised for a liver related illness before Christmas celebrations in Gombe and he died on the 6th of this month.”

The secretary of the party said prior to his death, Yerima had sent a letter to the party on the 27th of December, 2014, withdrawing his candidature as the party’s flag bearer because of his failing health.

Luka further said that the party has notified INEC of the development and that the national secretariat of the party is working round the clock to usher in a new candidate for the party to partake in the February polls.(Leadership)
