The first Ebola patient to be treated in The Netherlands was flown to the country in a specially equipped plane and was to be taken straight to the university hospital in Utrecht, in the centre of the country.
"After Germany, France and Switzerland , it is The Netherlands' turn to make a contribution by welcoming an employee of an international organisation," the Dutch health and development ministers said in a letter to parliament.
The patient had been enlisted in the fight against Ebola, which has killed more than 6,000 people and infected around 17,000, almost all in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
